The Melkhet Hydro-electric
Project is a run-of-river type project with
diurnal pondage. It will be located on river
Pindar in the Chamoli District of
Uttarakhand. Work on the project started in June 2023. The project will be commissioned by July 2025.
To be built at a cost of $41 million, the
project entails the construction of:
- Bridges and roads to
facilitate excavation and
transportation of materials to the
site.
- RCC Diversion barrage
with gated under-sluice, Intake and
Overflow section.
- Water Conductor System
consists of RCC Box Channel 6.5 km long.
- Surface Power House
with turbine setting 11m below ground
level.
